It’s been a long time coming! Well, kinda sorta…
I’ve been a developer for nine years now. And through it all, I must say that I’ve enjoyed it. Programming has been fulfilling in ways I would have never imagined!
I think back to my college days. I bounced around from major to major (when I really should have just transferred to a different school, but that’s another post). I had some people in my close circle who were Computer Science and Electrical Engineering majors. They had to take some programming classes like Fortran. I would hear them talk about how difficult it was. They’d show me some assignments and in some ways, it made sense. But not sense enough for me to consider changing my major.
Now, some-don’t-worry-about-it years later, programming is a large part of who I am. Yes, it is how I earn what some would call a “living”. I’ve been working as a developer for almost a decade now. But along with that, programming satisfies my desires to constantly learn. It has simultaneously humbled and rewarded me throughout this journey. The thrill of fixing, then breaking, then fixing all over again enhances my chops, but also gives me a deeper understanding of how things work.
So anyways, I first started with a githubio page. It was hideous. LOL I wouldn’t share the screenshot if I had it. Then, I started focusing more on design. Over time, I also learned a lot more about hosting, content managment, and other cool things. I decided to scrap, then re-scrap, then re-scrap my web portfolio again. And here is where I landed. And I anticipate re-scraping again in the future. That’s the beauty of development. There’s always new (or new to me, at least) things to learn. Always room for improvement.
I anticipate writing a lot more. Not only will I reflect on my journey as a developer, but I intend to share may other facets of my life. As one of my former codelings said about me, there’s lots of layers. So let’s peel them.
